It seems like this year is just bursting with new Halloween music!
Here's some of the new releases that will definitely get you in the spirit of
the season.
These tunes may be available on multiple services but I'm linking to Bandcamp
because you can easily preview the whole album before buying it.
First up is Sean Keller's third Halloween mix tape,
The Killer Sounds of Halloween 3D. Just like his previous releases, this one is packed with songs done in the
style of popular music artists with other audio treats sprinkled in. Keller
has a real talent for making sound alike songs and putting together something
that feels like an old school compilation album. If you don't have any
of the Killer Sounds albums, you're really missing out. They are so much fun!
The Darkest Light is the latest from Nancy Nightmare and the Wizard. I've been digging this horror pop/rock duo for years. They have a lot of fun on their YouTube channel, check it out!
Next is the ever dependable Halloween at High Noon with a new compilation titled PlasmaTronic. These 21 tracks are more Halloween party soundtrack than scary.
Bojo is also back with another Spooky Mix Tape,
Mix of Misfortune. As with previous releases, this is a free offering with songs from
established acts like They Might Be Giants, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and
more.
It just wouldn't be spooky season without a release from Sam Haynes. The
Bandcamp edition of
Haunted House Party
has bonus mixes you can't get anywhere else.
Slasher Dave's
The Jack-O-Lantern Murders
is a devilishly good retro soundtrack for a movie that never existed.
Coming on October 15th, is
Monsters Twelve
from Figure. At the link, you can preview tracks and save the album to your
Apple or Spotify playlists. Figure promises some old school drumstep,
traditional dubstep, and monsters! Only a few tracks have been released but
Zombies Ate My Ravers is a strong contender for my favorite so far.
Songs of the Pumpkin Boy is a Grand Rapids based 16 track compilation. I think
it's safe to say you should be able to find at least one track to enjoy on
this pay what you want album.
There's probably more I don't know about so feel free to drop them in the
comments!
