Welcome back to another year of Halloween Hot Wheels! Like last year, I
resorted to getting these online. I don't even know if they're sold in brick
& mortar stores anymore. A long time ago, I used to be able to find them
in Walmart or Target. Then they went to Kroger's or some other chain store
that isn't in New England. Having spooky friends around the country helped out
there!
I snagged this wave from
Die Cast Garage
after a quick search. Never used them before but they offered the wave, as
opposed to Entertainment Earth which only had the case, and the price was
right. The cars were nicely packed and arrived safe and sound.
Enough about that...let's get to the new card art!
If I were to look back at previous posts I'd bet I say they keep outdoing
themselves with the card art every year. And I'm going to keep saying it
because it's true!
The art is amazing. Take a click to drink in all the details! I was pleasantly
surprised when I looked up the cars that they went Dia de los Muertos with the
designs this year. I think it's a fantastic idea and a great way to shake
things up.
In addition to Dia de los Muertos, all the cars in this series share a couple
of other things. They all have the skull wheels and they all use real world
cars. Usually, there's at least one or more vehicles that would probably not
work in the real world. Because these are real cars, I can easily see them all
being in a parade together.
I have to say, I love metallic paint like this. It really makes the car
standout. If you squint at the rear bumper, you can see the Hot Wheels
Halloween logo, which I call Smiley. You'll be able to see him better on other
cars. I just didn't get a good shot of him here.
Because of the color of the windshield, I decided to break out the black
light.
I guess they didn't intend for it to be completely reactive under black light
based on the weird partial details that pop. How cool would it be to have an entire Halloween set that glowed under black light?

This looks fantastic. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt’s really cool they did a theme for the set. As far as I know they’ve never done that before.
DeleteThat is fabulous!
