Well, I finally became a victim of social media advertising. I kept seeing ads
from the website Temu with some fun looking, Halloween themed building block
sets. They were super cheap so I figured why not check it out. The first set I
got was this cemetery.
The set comes in a poly bag (no box) with an instruction sheet and all the
pieces in a smaller bag. You get what you pay $4.00 for. The set name on the
bag is Graveyard Blocks. To me, one gravestone does not a graveyard
make.
Fun fact: the word graveyard refers to a burial area around the grounds of a
church or other holy building. A literal grave yard. Cemetery is the general
term for a burial area. Graveyards are a type of cemetery. The More You
Know...
I thought this would make a good place for some of my LEGO Halloween figures
to hang out. It's got a creepy tree with a couple of cute ghosts. Are they
real or just decorations? There's also a little lantern at the base of the
tree to light your way. If this lantern were in an actual LEGO set, there
would also be a translucent yellow brick that would plug into it to "light"
it.
Let's take a closer look at each of the three parts.
There's lots of little flowers in the tree branches that keep it from being
too plain. A recurring theme with these non-LEGO sets is that sometimes things
can be difficult to assemble and/or stay together. The way the greens connect
to the branch is a little sketchy and once you get two branches on, each
additional one is more challenging to get connected.
Pretty straight forward pumpkin patch. Some of them have yellow translucent
bricks inside but without any light underneath it, you can't really tell.
And then...whatever the heck this is supposed to be. I get the skulls fitting
in with the spooky theme but what is this mess? Is it some kind of carnivorous
plant?
For such a small set, it took longer than it should have to put together. This
is mainly due to the instruction sheet. They decided to print it on a midnight
blue, glossy paper. Because of the unfortunate background color and shininess,
it made the instructions very hard to read. I got to a point where I was
either missing a piece or just couldn't make out what the correct piece was.
But I wasn't going to let one piece ruin the whole thing so I faked it with
what I had.
I got this set for the "discounted" price of $4. Supposedly, the "full" price
is $9 but part of Temu's thing is making it seem like you're getting a deal.
I'm pretty good at guess-timating LEGO set prices based on the number of
pieces but this doesn't say how many pieces it is. For $4, you can't go
wrong.
If you want to pick this set up,
here's the link. They have a variety of building block sets if you search for Halloween
LEGO. Just be aware that Temu is a marketplace with different sellers so it's
worth browsing around to see if you can find what you like at a better price.

Oh, interesting. This is a very different kind of lego set. I do love those pumpkins and ghosts, though. Just wish it wasn't from Temu. :( Still, great review and very honest. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's a weird site but you can find good deals on stuff if you look long enough
