Countdown to 10/31 - Drac Dirt

One of the odder items I'll be posting about this coming month is this offer from Famous Monsters of Filmland #159, 1979. For just a shade under $20 you could own one of 5000 coffin-shaped necklaces with soil from the real Castle Dracula entombed within.

It's one thing to wear something Dracula or vampire inspired that is movie related, something fictional. But this is the real deal. Soil from the castle where Vlad the Impaler carried out his wicked reign. Who knows, maybe the dirt you got could have soaked up blood from an impaling victim. I completely understand the novelty behind it but when I stop to think about (ie: over think) it, it's something kind of  horrible. It's like taking a ghoulish memento from where tragedy took place or a murder scene.

Would I wear a crystal coffin with dirt from a fresh grave? Yes, yes I would! That's an Addams kind of morbidity I can get behind.

  1. Ha ha. I heard about a guy who had one of these necklaces. I was curious to see what they looked like and I'm actually even more curious to know how this can be verified as the real deal and not just from some sandbox in Alabama.
