I can't believe I've been doing this countdown for so many years and have never mentioned Bogie Books before! These books were published for Dennison Paper Company in Framingham, Massachusetts in the early 1900s.
As you might imagine, Dennison Paper Company made...paper goods. Things like party supplies and decorations. These Bogie Books included ideas for party planning and costumes while doing double duty as a Dennison's catalog.
The books were published between 1912-1926, with the exception being 1918 due to a flu pandemic which put a damper on Halloween social activities. The books were a whole nickel when they started and were up to a dime by the time they stopped. That's about $1.25 - $1.36 in today's money.
The books are the things vintage Halloween enthusiasts dream of. Getting your hands on one of the original printings won't come cheaply, luckily there are many places offering reprints at a more reasonable price.
You can grab the 1920 book from the Internet Archive.
And I have a PDF copy of the 1923 book that I'm happy to share!
