Halloween Tunes

If you just don't have enough Halloween related music in your jukebox, here's a few things for you to check out.

Figure's latest horror-infused drumstep album, Monsters Vol. 7, dropped a little over a week ago. I never thought I'd be into this type of music but when you start dropping in dialog and music from horror movies, I"m all over it. On Volume 7, you'll find tracks inspired by The Exorcist, Suspiria, and The Shining to name a few.

You can get it on Amazon where you can also preview before you buy to see if it's your kind of thing. I "discovered" him around Volume 2 and I have been buying every new volume as soon as it comes out, that's how good I think it is.

While exploring Bandcamp for horror themed bands, I stumbled into The Renfields. I was out doing yardwork at the time and streamed the entire album. After I finished outside, I went in the house and bought the album.

This album is a ton of fun! Plus they have songs about Night of the Creeps, Forbidden Planet and Vincent Price's Last Man on Earth. You have a song about Vincent Price on your album, I'm probably gonna buy it!

Hitting the virtual street just about an hour ago is the annual Monster Mashup compilation with 50 tracks over 3 discs! As always, this is free-free-FREE to download. Who doesn't love free stuff? I haven't had time to check it all out yet but I have been listening to it while writing this post. There's always something to be found on these no matter what your musical taste.

Get thee over to the Monster Mashup Facebook page to grab the download links.

And finally, the Cult of the Great Pumpkin recently alerted readers about the mother lode of Halloween albums returning from their digital grave. Nightmare City Halloween has uploaded a ton of records previously hosted on the amazing Scar Stuff site to celebrate its 10th anniversary. I know I personally plundered that blog when I discovered it years ago and it's probably what really set me on my digital Halloween collecting.

I'm going to make you work a little for this treasure trove, though. If you're reading this and not already reading the Cult of the Great Pumpkin, you really should be. So click either of those links to get the low down and prepare yourself for untold hours of good ol' fashioned Halloween listenin'!
