Hallmark 2013 Halloween Ornaments

Unless you were traversing a pocket dimension playing matchmaker or off defending the frontier from Xur and the Ko-dan armada, you know last week was pretty eventful here in Massachusetts. Thankfully no one I know was directly affected by the events. And for future reference, Reddit will get you more accurate unbiased news than any broadcast network.
I'm not here to blog about that, but instead put it behind us.

We recently received our Hallmark Dreambook in the mail. For the uninitiated, it's like the Sears Wish Book for upcoming Hallmark ornaments. While there are plenty of pop culture inspired ornaments coming this year (no big shock), I wanted to share the Halloween ones.
There's just a little over 6 months left!

As much as I love horror movies and scaring the pants off people Halloween night, Halloween for me is really more about the whimsy of it all and getting back to childhood.
I like that Hallmark has been doing Halloween ornaments every year that capture that spirit.

The Stand-Up Skeleton in the bottom right has to be my favorite. I can only imagine the corny jokes he will tell when you press the button. Next would have to be the bat and other skeleton. It'd be cool to get a bunch of the bats and put them all over a Halloween tree.

If you're a member of the Hallmark Club, you can also get special exclusives every year. And they just happen to have a Halloween/Wizard of Oz crossover one this year, the Halloween Wicked Witch of the West by Madame Alexander. We're also big Wizard of Oz fans in this house, so even a Scarecrow would know she'll be coming home with us too!

  3. Every one of those is adorable! I like that bat a lot. The jack-o-lantern is pretty cool, but it would be even cooler if it lit up inside. I'd like to see a glowing candle in there instead of the flying witch. I'm not always a Madame Alexander fan, but I do like the little Wicked Witch. A friend of mine had a Madame Alexander mini doll of that character when we were young. It was by far the coolest doll in her collection!

    1. If it were just a generic witch, I'd probably pass on it.

  4. My daughter loves the Madame Alexander witch. I may finally break down and join the club this year. I always spend a small fortune on the christmas ornaments.

    1. So do we! Thankfully they have a lay-away plan so you can pay it off over a few months. Plus they will put them aside for you when you place your order so you don't have to worry about missing any.

  5. I'm glad to hear that you and yours weren't directly affected by the dreadful events in Boston.

On the subject of Halloween, for me, it is all about spooky fun rather than hardcore horror. The ornaments are adorable, and I like the skellie best too! Sadly, there's no chance in hell these will be available in Australia. We're getting a little more Halloweeny every year, but we've still got a long way to go before we catch up to America's love affair with the best holiday of the year! :)

    1. The shipping might be cost prohibitive but if you want any of these, I'd be happy to pick them up for you and mail them.

    2. Postage rates from the US have gone even higher recently, so unfortunately it does make the cost prohibitive, but thank you so much for offering anyway. I really appreciate the thought! :)
