Under the Weather

It's been a little quiet around here lately. Even though it's my choice as the guy behind the blog, I feel bad when I don't post something on a regular basis. I'm still figuring out having to write posts over the weekend in advance. I prefer sitting down at the moment and putting something together. It shouldn't be much different but for some reason it is. It's also been a rough couple of weeks as we've been under the weather.

Literally.

This isn't a trench on Hoth, it's my sidewalk!

A couple weeks ago we got a blizzard that dropped around 3' of snow on us. And every week after that, we've gotten more and more snow. We're due to get even more this week and as I'm looking out the window at 7am, it's starting to snow right now. Ugh!

It's kind of hard to tell in the photo but the passenger side of the car is right up against the snow, which a drift that formed due to the fence on that side of the driveway. You can see it poking out of the snow in the upper right.

We have a narrow driveway that runs alongside the house which seems to create the perfect environment fro snow drifts. We're literally running out of places to put the snow.

That's my house on the left The bottom half of the large window in our living room is covered in snow. You see that little break in the snow on the right? That's a 4' high fence on the side of the driveway. And just to the right of the house, at the front of the driveway, is a 7' tall fence. The snow is almost that high.

Here's the view looking down the driveway into the street.

So that's what I've been up to for fun lately. Haha! Some good news though! The insurance check came for us to replace some of the things that were stolen during our break-in in December. Once the weather calms down a bit (and I don't have to spend weekends digging out) I'll be on the hunt for a new camera, which means I don't have to take blog photos with my iPad anymore. Which in turn means, more frequent posting. Huzzah!

  1. Every time I see pictures like that, I'm grateful that New Jersey has largely been spared this winter... but I'm still ready for spring & warm weather to arrive.

    1. Count yourself lucky! Definitely the worst winter we've had in a long time.

  2. It has been an unfortunate and wretched Winter for those of us in New England. I absolutely know where you're coming from feeling "under the weather". Besides work [and shoveling/scraping], I've been spending all my time hibernating and watching television. Here's hoping we've seen the worst of it and for an early Spring thaw.

    1. Amen! Blizzards are only good when you're a kid and don't have to shovel it or try to drive in it.

  4. Man, that's some crazy snow! For some reason Utah has been largely spared this winter, we haven't had snow since December! On the bright side there is great potential for toy snow pics. I remember playing in the snow with my figs when I was but a lad. I get weird looks when I do that nowadays though.
