Adventure Time Playpak Series 3 Trading Cards

C'mon, grab you friends, we'll go to very distant lands to take a look at the Adventure Time Playpak Series 3 trading cards from Cryptozoic.

I've actually had these for maybe two months and haven't ripped the entire box yet. I'm most of the way there but I like saving a few for when I need a quick pick me up during the day. The packs and box art feature Fionna and Cake the Cat, the gender swapped universe versions of Finn and Jake the Dog.

I haven't see these in any stores and am glad I was able to grab a box directly from Cryptozoic's site. There are 24 packs per box with 5 cards in each pack. In theory, that's enough packs to get two full 45 card sets with some extras left over. I have 7 packs left to open to get the one card I need to complete a single set.

Let's see what sort of fun cards in the packs.

First up are the base cards which come two to a pack. Aside from the first card, these highlight a single character. The backs of the cards have a black and white line drawing of the same image, presumably for you to color. Although, the card finish seems like it might work better with markers than crayons or colored pencils.

What would a trading card set by without stickers? Just like the sticker card backs from when I was a kid, these have puzzle pieces that form a larger picture when you collect them all. You get one sticker card per pack.

Next are the "Lava" cards with a blazing hot foil pattern. They look much better in person! These are one per pack and have either a "spot the difference" or decoder puzzle on the back.

These next three card types have 1 in every 3 pack odds. Thankfully, there's only three cards in each subset.

Here we've got your standard lick your arm and apply temporary tattoos. These card backs aren't all that interesting, having just instructions on how to use them.

Then we have Scratch n Sniff cards with backs that supposedly show you how to draw the character in four easy steps! In case you've ever wondered what LSP smells like, it's lavender.

Rounding out the set are these cards that you can punch out and fold to make a little standee figure. I experimented with an extra Peppermint Butler and it didn't go smoothly. I ended up tearing a small part of the card when trying to separate the slots but it is an extra one so no big loss.
