Retro Gaming - Flipsiders by Milton Bradley

The title is a little misleading. Usually when you hear retro gaming, people are talking about video games but today I'm talking about a series of pocket sized board games from the 80s called Flipsiders released by good ol' Milton Bradley.

The reason I picked this particular thing to talk about is that I found one of my games recently while digging through some boxes of stuff. Flipsiders was a series of games that came in a cassette style housing. Everything you needed to play (except the instructions) was inside the cassette: a spinner, four tiny player movers cleverly stored in a small compartment, and a 3 panel game board.

The game I have is Dragon Master where two players race to be the first to fight their way through three dungeon levels and defeat the dragon.

11 Years and Counting

Here we are again, another 365 days since the last blog anniversary post!
This year, the blog goes to 11

No presents this year, just the usual stat recap.

Here are the Top 10 posts of all time:

Shocking even me, the Top 10 changed since last year. My very first Countdown to Halloween post from 2011 has cracked the Top 10. The League of Extraordinary Bloggers Space Post from 2013 remains on top and has hit double digits in views. That's double digits in thousands, not just 10 people.

If you're reading this, thanks for being a regular.
If you're not reading this, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.

Dan Brereton's Nocturnals October Epoch Calendar on Kickstarter

If you're like me, you'd be happy if it was Halloween 365. We're not quite there yet but illustrator Dan Brereton wants to help out with a new calendar that starts in October and ends next October.

I absolutely love the Nocturnals comic series/setting. It's Gothic horror, pulp noir, and Halloween all rolled into one. I am over the moon at the thought of keeping them up on my wall for a year to countdown to next Halloween. In addition to the gorgeous artwork, the calendar will have important horror dates like movie premieres and creator birthdays.

It's only $25 to get the calendar itself. If you watch the video, you'll see there's some amazing other goodies you can get at higher pledge levels.
