I picked up Hallows' Eve a few months ago but managed to put off opening her until now. It only seemed fitting to
talk about her in October.
Although her regular human identity has been around since '95, Hallows' Eve
only made her debut in 2022. Like a lot of comic characters, there's a lot of
back story but the quick version is that she is the girlfriend of Parker-clone
Ben Reilly and was given her powers by Madelyn Pryor in Limbo. She has an
awesome power and it's why I love this character so much even if she's a bit
on the shady side: she can create Halloween masks that give her the abilities
of the character.
A few examples are a ghost which lets her become intangible and invisble, a witch
that lets her cast spells, and she's even made a Spider-Man mask that gave her
Spidey's powers and web slinging. She can also create something "normal" like
a police officer to disguise herself. The ultimate Trick or Treater!
Let's get a closer look at her after the break.
The figure is great. Even though her costume is fairly simple, there's lots of
little details like the buckle on the satchel strap and the little rivets on
the side of the bag. The satchel can be removed and let me tell you, it's a
little bit of a pain when you're trying to pose her for pics because it keeps
sliding around. I found the trick is to tuck the strap under her scarf.
The scarf isn't affixed to her and is fully removable. It would be really cool if it had bendy
wire in it so you could pose it. Her head and hood are two different pieces
but the head can't be removed from the hood. She comes with two masks and
three sets of hands: fists, open for holding things, and jazz hands.
I tried to use a colored light to give this a red tinge since it's the Devil
mask. I know she's used this one but I don't remember what power(s) it gives.
Shooting fire? Pitchforking?
She's definitely used a Vampire mask before which comes with the powers you'd
expect. As I was taking pics, I noticed the masks are hollow on the back with
a ridge around it so she can hold it but can she actually wear them?
Yes and no. The Vampire one goes on pretty well because it can slide under the
top of her hood. The Devil mask, due to its horns, can't slide under the hood
and won't stay on.
Here's a few panels of Hallows' Eve with different masks.
With the variety of masks she can make, she's a one person team all on her
own!
Somehow, the mask magic even gives you accessories. After all, what good is
a Halloween costume without the appropriate accessories? Love the giant
pumpkin on the shield! I would definitely buy this as a figure!
And here's a couple of comic covers because I just can't get enough of her
Hallow-vibes.
