Book Report - You Are (Not) Deadpool

Thanks to NetGalley and the cool kids at Aconyte Books, I was lucky enough to get a review copy of one of the upcoming Marvel Multiverse Mission Adventures Gamebooks. Whew, say that five times fast! This copy was provided for free in exchange for my honest review.

While Marvel Gamebooks are new for Aconyte, they've put out 20 Marvel fiction novels to date with more on the way. I haven't read any of them yet but there are a pair of Doctor Doom books I've got my eye on.

You may ask yourself, what is a Multiverse Mission Adventure Gamebook? First, I'd say you've got a very wordy brain. Second, it's like a Choose Your Own Adventure but with dice and note taking.

Star Wars Action Figure Playing Cards

There was a time, years ago, when I could say I owned every deck of Star Wars playing cards that was put out. Now, they're just cranking them out. I think they're going too niche in the quest for more money. At any rate, my point is that I can't catch em all anymore but will pick one up that strikes me.

And how could anyone that grew up with the original movies, and toys, pass this up? For a lot of fans my age, the Kenner line is just as much a part of our love for Star Wars as the movies themselves. Before you could stream anything, even before VHS was in every house, the toys let you have your own adventures whether you wanted to recreate the movies or make up your own stories.

Monthly Media Recap - March 2022

If you like what you see, be sure to hit that subscribe button, smash Like and leave a comment. I didn't really have anything for this opening, just wondering if anyone actually reads it!

Series

Disenchantment (S4, Netflix)
I've done nothing but rave about this series since it started and will continue to do so until the quality drops or it ends. I'm guessing it will end first. Even if you're not into fantasy but enjoy humor and good characters, give it a try.

Two Sentence Horror Stories (S1, Netflix or CW app)
Before it was a show, I'm pretty sure this started off as some kind of social media thing where people would come up with very short creepy stories. I wasn't expecting much from a horror anthology on the CW but it's actually pretty decent. The episodes are short so it's good when you want a quick horror fix. Each episode is bookended by the first and second sentence which kind of lets you try to guess what will happen.

Streaming

So glad I decided to watch this! It's a fantastic spoof of gothic horror, in particular the Corman/Price/Poe movies. There's even a guy doing his best Vincent Price. We all know Elvira is funny but her comedic timing in this is perfection.
