Countdown to 10/31 - The Raven

It's almost a given that everyone has at least a passing familiarity with Edgar Allan Poe's poetic tale of a scholar descending into madness, The Raven. There's no arguing it has made its mark in pop culture.

Quoth the Raven, "Eat my shorts!"
Despite Poe having invented the detective story and his great contributions to science-fiction, most people's first thought when you mention Poe is horror (or in my case, Roger Corman/Vincent Price movies). It seems only natural that The Raven will come back to haunt us every Halloween, forevermore. And so, dear reader, I offer up to you a grand gathering of voices reciting the quaint and curious composition. Included are all the below, and perhaps, a few more.

The Raven as read by: Basil Rathbone, Christopher Walken, Christopher Lee, James Earl Jones, John Astin, Vincent Price, William Shatner and John DeLancie

  1. Oh, I love that Simpson's Halloween Special! What a classic. I think that should be shown to kids in school when they learn about "The Raven".
